Climbing in Pembrokeshire 2 day hit

St Govans Climbing
Standard

Last minute trip to Pembroke with two mates, based on the weather being better down there, having dim work, wanting to test our fitness, keen to tick some big pitches with 3 stars.  Pember’s is absolutely littered with 3 star climbs of all grades… it’s especially endowed with famous lines from HVS upwards, 7 of which form part of the book: Extreme Rock.

Day 1 we abbed into St Govans area and I kicked off with The Arrow (mega classic), Mat had a nasty Tussle with Tangerine dream (really ‘ard), the day then ended in exhaustion at about 7PM when Rich topped out on Keelhaul, having all led 2 or 3 routes, we retired to the St Govan’s Inn for a few pints and bumped into Liam, Karen and Sarah.

Day 2: I was toasted from the big day before and not anywhere near fit enough for two big days… Abbed into The Leap and got on an E2, bit soggy and wet mid crux, pumped out, let Mat take over.  He then fought up the corner of Strap-Up, before Rich had a very tough time on Bloody Sunday.

Fish and Chips on the way home.  Awesome days, awesome place.  Will be back in a few months when I’m stronger.  Anyone got any routes they recommend E3 ish…?  T
